Designated Agencies’ Responsibility

Designated Agencies have a responsibility for any vulnerable adult living or receiving services within catchment area (except correctional facilities).

Designated Agencies respond to reports received for all vulnerable adults regardless of their immigration status in Canada.

They must:

  1. Look into the situation
  2. Involve the adult as much as possible
  3. Report criminal offences
  4. Keep the identity of the person who made the report confidential

Community Living BC is the Designated Agency for all adults who are eligible to receive community living support under the Community Living Authority Act. When a Community Living BC eligible adult is also receiving services and care from a Health Authority or Providence Health Care then a Designated Responder will be assigned to assist Community Living BC to work with the health care system.
