Dynamics of Abuse
In Systems Theory, components of the system are dynamic and interactive. Each part interconnects with the other and a change in one part will impact the whole.
It is crucial to understand how the risk factors are interacting with the other parts of the system for you to determine the best point of intervention. Systems Theory also recognizes that change is most likely to be successful by building on the strength in a system, not the weakest part.
A comprehensive psychosocial assessment is required to know where to intervene.
